ABOUT YOU

Name: Empress
Are you 18 or over?: yep
Other characters played: n / a

CHARACTER

Name: Obi-Wan Kenobi
Canon: Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008 series)
Age: 35
History: That nice long and detailed history from the wookiepedia gods.
Point in canon: Pre-episode 4x15, the Deception arc
Window Location: His quarters in the Jedi Temple
Universe: 0020

Abilities:

Obi-Wan Kenobi is a Force Sensitive Human male, meaning he possess all of the abilities that any Jedi would. While he depends largely on his lightsaber combat skills, he is incredibly powerful and very skilled within the Force. He is well trained in the skill of Force persuasion, as well as the use of the Jedi Mind Trick.

Though he prefers diplomacy, Obi-Wan is known for being one of the greatest swordsmen amongst the (now deceased) Jedi Order. He is a master of Form III (Soresu) lightsaber combat, preferring that above all else, though he also knows the elements of Form VIII: (Sokan), and Form IV: (Ataru), though he abandoned the latter following the death of Qui-Gon, due to it's lack of defense. These skills will decline, however, later on in his canon, during his exile on Tatooine.

He is also a superb pilot, who just so happens to hate to fly, and an excellent mediator. If he wasn't a Jedi, he could have been a politician.

Possessions: His lightsaber, one comlink, and other helpful knickknacks he keeps in his utility belt.

Personality:

Obi-Wan Kenobi is a man who has dedicated his life and service to the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic. He prefers peace over war, and meditation over sparring any day of the week. And yet, in the battlefield, he is virtually unmatched. This is something he does not linger upon, refusing to admit or acknowledge the greatness that others proclaim him to hold. His reputation for being able to talk himself and others out of even the deadliest of situations earned him the title of 'The Negotiator', a title which he'd rather not hold, for lack of teasing from certain peers. He is humble and forgiving, and wise beyond his years, at times being considered one of the greatest Jedi, even with his occasionally bold, defiant nature.

Like most other Jedi, Obi-Wan is more than capable of making himself coolly detached from any situation. Most would say he's too good at it. Stony expressions and a cool, unmatched gaze. It seems to take a lot to get under this man's skin. But that's not to say he is lacking in empathy. He has feelings, he feels emotion. There is a heart beneath all that Jedi discipline and cloth. He has pride. He's experienced intense jealousy, longing, frustration, pain, anger, hate, and even love. Whirlwind emotions, that have confused him more than once. But, the way he believes every other Jedi should, Obi-Wan has permitted these to flow through his life, no matter how difficult it may be at times.

One who despises a fuss, especially if it is made at his expense, Obi-Wan is not all for calling attention to himself. He's come to learn the hard way that emotional attachments of any kind are dangerous and painful, first with the death of his Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, and then the descent of his former Padawan, Anakin Skywalker. Following Qui-Gon's death, Obi-Wan became much more stern and tight-lipped, even coming to despise one of his favorite pass-times- flying. It had been pointed out that Obi-Wan came to forget what it was ever like to be a child, to take peace from the simple things in life. However, after his years with Anakin, first training the boy, and then fighting alongside him as Jedi Knights, Obi-Wan started to relax. He brought forth gentle, and at times dry, humor to lighten situations, something you would never catch him doing as a young Jedi Knight. He came to love Anakin, not as a son, but as a brother, someone he could depend on with his life. So you can imagine Obi-Wan's shock and pain when he discovered Anakin had turned his back on the Jedi - something they had devoted their lives to - and became a Sith Lord. He took Anakin's fall upon himself, thinking if he had only trained the boy better... kept a closer eye on him... just been there when he saw he needed it. Anakin's fall, and the course of action Obi-Wan had to take against him, will be something the Jedi general will keep with him for years. No amount of Jedi discipline can ever truly shake away his shame and guilt.

As a Padawan, Obi-Wan was loyal and dedicated, traits that stuck with him as he went through the ranks. It's stated in the Phantom Menace novelization that he once possessed an immaturity not befitting someone of his age, though it's something he had long since shed, only cropping up in the occasional corny joke. Pride was a very specific flaw in his emotion makeup, especially during his years as a learner. Often seeing other beings as “insignificant life forms”, though he would attempt to repress the majority of his feelings on this, considering Qui-Gon’s constant need to help one of those types of beings. Many would consider him to be a perfectionist. He did his best to be mindful of the future, something all Jedi are meant to be, even with his Master's urgings to keep himself in and benefit by the present Force. Only in recent years has Obi-Wan come to understand what Qui-Gon meant by this.

Obi-Wan is capable of adjusting fairly well to new places and situations. For example, though he was deemed ready for the trials, he was thrown quite abruptly into Knighthood along with becoming a Master toward young Anakin. They were roles he took without the slightest waiver of confidence - on the outside, at least. There are times, even to this day, when he still feels like an inexperienced young Padawan. And following the birth of infant Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan was prepared to accompany the boy to Tatooine, to watch over him as an 'eccentric old uncle'; and truly, he couldn't have thought of a better way to spend his retirement.

The outbreak of the Clone Wars has brought forth new changes in Obi-Wan. No longer does he see Anakin Skywalker as the trouble-making, worrisome young Padawan he trained, but a defiant, worrisome young man who he holds high regard for, and trusts with his life. While most may have seen that training Anakin was nothing more than a burden placed upon Obi-Wan in the dying wishes of his old Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan has come to realize that how training Anakin has made him a better Jedi, and knowing him has made him a better man. His relationship with Anakin has lightened considerably, to the point where they manage to find the time to snark at one another in the thick of battle. The war has also provided another shift in Kenobi’s personality - he’s not as disapproving of the antics of the younger people that surround him on a daily basis, taking everything with a much more gentle humor and stride, easily becoming a confidante for those around him. Yet surrounded by these young people - yes, even the clones - has led Obi-Wan to start feeling something that's both alarming and wearisome - his age. The war has managed to make him feel older than his thirty-something years, a fact that he sometimes denies, while at others he accepts with a grudging reluctance. He's allowed himself to enter the mentor-role once again, this time to aid Anakin in the training of his Padawan, Ahsoka. But of course, he cannot take the full reigns with this task, believing wholeheartedly in the Council's decision that this task of mentor ship will help Anakin grow more than he already has.

Granted the rank of 'Jedi General' in the Grand Army of the Republic, this is a position that - like all of his other tasks - Obi-Wan does not take lightly. Like everyone else, he hopes to end the war as quickly as possible - lacking in as many casualties as possible. However, he knows that this is not the case, given that it is already reaching it's third year mark. And yet, even with these times of war infiltrating everyday lives, Obi-Wan and all those around him manage to keep going, because he knows they will all do what they must.

The war has granted as many gains as it has losses. For starters, it reunited Kenobi will an old friend, Duchess Satine of Mandalore, someone he had not seen in years. While their original reunion had been rather strained due to the reasons behind their meeting, it was easy to fall back into old habits. The two bicker and clash, to the point where they could be considered an old married couple. Pride is the obstacle there, Obi-Wan being too stubborn to back down from one of the few people who truly challenges him on a verbal level alone. It is Obi-Wan's past relationship with the Duchess that has proven his loyalty to the Jedi has not always been solid. He'd been one-hundred percent willing, had she said the word all those years ago, to leave the Order to be with her. Naturally over the years he has kept these feelings buried deep, where nothing and no one can resurrect them.

Another interesting relationship brought into light during the war is that between him and the Dathomir witch, Asajj Ventress. Though he can be brutally charming with all those around him, Ventress - and Anakin - have reserved special spots. With the Sith Witch, lightsabers clash, words are snarled, and yet terms of endearment like 'my dear' and 'my sweet' are tossed around. There is venom to those words, while at the same time cab be considered playful banter. Some would say it's even close to flirting. Really, Obi-Wan has to disagree - his verbal quarrels with Ventress are constantly laced with that heavy sarcasm and dry wit he has become quite famous for.

He's cunning - as a Padawan of Qui-Gon Jinn, one had to be - and adaptable, often with one or several tricks up his sleeve to get himself and others out of certain situations. When that is not an option, Obi-Wan has full faith that the Force will guide him through. Beneath his polite demeanor and overall quiet, gentle appearance burns the fire of a knight, a warrior, and one who is quite good at it, at that. He isn't simply called the Negotiator for his way with words, after-all; his skills with a lightsaber are nearly unparalleled, and his battle tactics are known for their level-headed and effective style. He will only attack if he truly must. However, when heavily provoked, Obi-Wan has had moments where he had lost control and attacks his foes with alarmingly brutal violence. These are actions he always manages to regret later on, usually meditating on them deeply.

The meeting with the Jedi Council adjourned, Obi-Wan could think of nothing better to do than a deep, peaceful meditation session.

He would be a fool if he did not admit the task assigned to him left him troubled. Anxiousness nipped at his heels, attempting to whisper in his ear. Guilt had already saved a place, sounding suspiciously like Anakin. Naturally, he pushed those feelings aside, like anyone in his position should.

The cavernous hallway was dimly lit and empty. Most others were either resting, taking a meal in the dining hall, or spanned throughout the galaxy, fighting a war that showed no reason, no sign of ending any time soon.

Obi-Wan stifled a weary sigh. Behind him, the familiar sound of Master Yoda's gimer stick sounded against the empty walls.

"Concerned about the task before you, you are, Obi-Wan," It was not a question.

After a moments pause, Obi-Wan nodded. It was futile to hide anything from the diminutive Jedi Master. He replied with care, "I realize I should not be, that the Chancellor's life is at risk if we fail in any way, but... I cannot help but have a bad feeling about this."

"Your worries, not misplaced they are, Obi-Wan," Yoda said. "Impending darkness, I sense, concerning this mission."

Obi-Wan expected his stomach to clench at this revelation, to have the floor lurch beneath his feet. Nothing of the sort occurred. The shroud of darkness was like a coil, steadily tightening around them with every loss, every mistake, slowly suffocating everything that was good.

He cleared those troubling thoughts. "What do you suggest I do, Master?" Obi-Wan asked. He looked down at Yoda, who's large ears twitched as he thought. With calm reassurance, the Jedi Master replied. "Trust in your instinct. Trust in the Force. Never failed you before, have they, hmm?" Yoda's large eyes blinked slowly, offering wordless confidence and encouragement, the type most Younglings and Padawans often searched for. Not fully realized Jedi.

Obi-Wan suddenly felt as though he could breathe properly once again. The worry in his gut was still there of course - it had been there for so long, he'd begun to think of it as a troublesome acquaintance - but that meant nothing for the moment. He offered Yoda a formal bow, as expected of one in his position.

It continued to be unnerving to have Yoda bow back.

DÆMON

Name: Pria
Sex: Female
Form: Coati
Additional notes: Pria is a ring-taled coati, so her fur is a rather light brown, just about matching Obi-Wan's hair color.
Why this form: Obi-Wan is considered one of the fiercest fighters in the Jedi Order, his actions for the defense of the Republic. The only time coatis ever truly fight is either when they are provoked, or as a form of defense. They are incredibly intelligent animals, but occasionally prone to mischief. They are not ones to blindly accept authority, often proving to be quite stubborn.
